Purasomes Hair & Scalp Exosomes for Thinning Hair in Orange County
Colostrum-derived exosomes worked into the scalp across a course of four. What is in the vial, what a session is like, what the research honestly says, and why density is judged at three to six months rather than three weeks.
Why Hair Thins, in Plain Words
Every hair on your head grows from a follicle, and every follicle works in a cycle: a long growing phase, a short transition, a rest, then the hair falls and the follicle starts again. Thinning hair is usually not a case of follicles dying. It is two slow changes happening together. The follicles get smaller, so the hair they make is finer and shorter each time round. And they spend longer resting between growths, so at any given moment fewer of them are actually producing hair. Put those together and you get what people see in the mirror: a wider part, more scalp showing at the crown, temples that have crept back, a ponytail that feels thinner in the hand. Genetics, hormones, stress, illness and diet all push on those two dials. One honest framing before we go further. This is a cosmetic service about the appearance of your hair and the condition of your scalp. It is not medical care, and if your hair changed suddenly or came with other symptoms, please see a doctor first.
What Exosomes Are, and Why They Come From Cow Colostrum
Your cells talk to each other constantly by sending tiny packages back and forth, far too small to see. Scientists call these packages exosomes. Each one carries instructions: build this, calm that down, repair here, keep this follicle going. As we get older the cells keep sending packages, but the instructions inside get vaguer. An exosome service is a way of handing your scalp a fresh batch of clearly written instructions. Colostrum is the very first milk a mother makes in the hours right after giving birth, and it is nothing like ordinary milk. It is a starter kit, loaded with everything a newborn needs to grow quickly. The colostrum in these vials comes from cows on an organic farm in Italy, collected in the first few hours after a calf is born. Why a cow rather than a plant? Because a cow is a mammal, like you, so the instructions inside its exosomes are written in a language your cells recognise. A rose is a beautiful thing, but it is very distantly related to you. And why not human-derived material? Because that carries far more regulatory and sourcing questions, and colostrum sidesteps all of them.
One hard rule: if you have a dairy allergy, this service is not for you. The exosomes are made from cow colostrum. Please tell us on the intake form.
What Is Actually in the Vial
The product is called Purasomes Hair & Scalp Complex, HSC 50+. Before the list, one correction that matters, because it gets repeated wrongly everywhere: the 50+ in the name is not an exosome count. It refers to how much hyaluronic acid the formula carries. Every product in this Italian line carries the same amount of exosomes. Here is what is inside.
- 20 billion colostrum-derived exosomes, the signal carriers described above.
- 20 growth factors, proteins that tell cells to get on with building.
- PDRN, a purified DNA fragment ingredient used widely in professional skin care for comfort and repair support.
- Hyaluronic acid in two molecular sizes. One holds water at the surface, the smaller one travels further in.
- Seven peptides, which are short chains of amino acids, the alphabet cells build proteins from.
- Biotin and a group of vitamins associated with hair and scalp condition.
- An extract from turmeric root cell cultures, included for its antioxidant activity on the scalp.
What a Session Is Like
Plan on about an hour. You arrive with clean, dry hair and no product in it. VitaLina parts the hair in sections and cleanses the scalp. The vial is opened and the serum is worked into the surface of the scalp, section by section, with a nano-infusion or microneedling pen so it goes where it is meant to go rather than sitting on top of the hair. Everything stays topical. Nothing is delivered by syringe, and the manufacturer's own label is blunt about it: for external use only. Most people describe the feeling as light scratching or a prickle, more strange than painful, and it is over in twenty minutes or so. You leave with the serum still on your scalp. Do not wash your hair for twelve hours, and skip the gym that evening. There is no visible downtime, no dressing, and nothing anybody can see.
How This Differs From Our $400 Scalp Microneedling
We already offer scalp microneedling at $400 for the full scalp, and it is a good service. The difference is not the technique. It is the serum going in. Standard scalp microneedling relies on the controlled stimulation itself plus a supporting serum. The Purasomes session is built around one specific Italian formula made only for hair and scalp: the exosomes, the growth factors, the PDRN, the peptides and the biotin, at the dose the manufacturer specifies, from a sealed single-use vial. If budget is the deciding factor, the $400 scalp microneedling is a genuinely sensible place to start and I will say so out loud. If you have already done a course of that and want to go further, or you simply want the strongest topical scalp protocol we can offer, this is the step up.
The Honest Version of the Evidence
I would rather you hear this from me than find it later. Exosome research is real science and the direction is consistently positive. Several systematic reviews published in 2025 and 2026 pooled the human studies and found improvements in hair density and thickness, with no serious safety problems reported in topical use. But the same reviews say, in their own words, that the studies are small, mostly not randomised, short, and hard to compare with each other. That is promising and early. It is not settled. There are also no FDA-approved exosome products, for any purpose at all. This is a cosmetic service about the appearance and condition of your hair and scalp, not medical care for a diagnosed condition, and I will not describe it as one.
Promising and consistently positive, but still early and mostly small studies. Anyone who tells you exosomes are proven for hair is telling you something the research does not yet say.
Timelines: Why You Judge This at Three to Six Months
Hair is slow. That is the single most important thing to accept before you start, because it sets what a fair test looks like. Scalp comfort is usually the first thing people notice, meaning less itch, less tightness and less flaking, often within the first few weeks. Shedding tends to settle next. Many clients tell me the amount of hair in the shower drain drops before anything looks different in the mirror, and that is a normal order of events rather than a sign of anything going wrong. Density, which is the thing you actually came for, cannot show up quickly, because a hair that starts growing today grows roughly half an inch a month. So take a photo on day one in good light, in the same spot with the same parting, and take another at three months and again at six. Judge it then. Judging it at four weeks is judging it before the answer exists.
The Course, the Price, and What Others Charge
We price by area, because a receding hairline and a whole thinning scalp are not the same amount of product or time. Hairline and temples is $350. Crown is $400. Full scalp is $550. A course of four full-scalp sessions is $1,870, which saves $330 against booking them separately. The course runs four sessions three to four weeks apart, and then we sit down with your photos and reassess. For comparison, a Newport Beach med spa publishes $925 per session for hair microneedling with exosomes, and platelet-based hair treatments, which are a different approach done at medical clinics using your own blood, are published in Mission Viejo at $400 to $800 per session. We sit below the local exosome benchmark and inside the range people here already expect to pay.
Who It Suits, Including Men, and What to Do Afterwards
This suits early to moderate thinning where there is still hair to work with: a widening part, softer density at the crown, temples that have receded, or hair that thinned after a stressful year, an illness or a hormonal shift. It suits scalps that are itchy, tight or flaky alongside the thinning. It does not suit a fully bare, shiny area where the follicles are long gone. No topical brings those back, and I will tell you that at the consultation rather than sell you four sessions. Men are very welcome, and roughly half the people I see for scalp work are men. It sits alongside the rest of our men's aesthetics menu, and nobody has to sit in a waiting room here, because there is no waiting room. The aftercare is short.
- Leave the serum on. No washing the hair for twelve hours.
- No gym, sauna or steam room that evening.
- No hair dye, bleach or chemical straightening for seven days.
- Wear a hat in direct sun for a few days, especially over a thinning crown.
- Keep your photos. Same light, same parting, same phone.
